Karin Gavac studied business administration at the WU (Vienna University of Economics and Business Administration) with a focus on small and medium-sized enterprises. She has been working for the Austrian Institute for SME Research since 1998. Her main areas of responsibility at the institute are the analysis of secondary statistical data and quantitative surveys. She is responsible for the data analysis and reporting of the business cycle surveys in retail trade, crafts as well as in the sector information and consulting. In addition, she is involved in numerous studies on entrepreneurship in Austria as well as in sector analyses (especially in trade and the creative industries). Karin Gavac has extensive knowledge of national and international economic databases, sector and product classifications and has contributed to the development of numerous definitions of economic sectors (including creative industries, sports).
