As a dynamic industry, the creative industries play a pioneering role in several dimensions – for example with regard to the development of new business and working models or forms of innovation (e.g. open innovation, service-based innovation, business model innovation). Through its cross-cutting function, the creative industries support innovations and the competitiveness of large parts of the economy. The Austrian Institute for SME Research continuously conducts analyses of this economic sector for economic areas at European, national and regional level.
